On Thursday, April 11th and Friday, April 12th, Lake Park Dance Ensemble performed their annual showcase.

This year, Dance Ensemble decided to take on a different approach than previous years by following a theme: “Help!”

According to sponsors Erin Browski, Alexandra Hamilton, and Taylor Severino, the purpose of the name is to keep up with the theme of helping other Lancers and The Beatles.

The preparations for the show emerged with auditions that happened prior to winter break, where choreographers and dancers put forth individual talents to the table. Following this, dancers were settled into appropriate dances based on their current abilities.

Practices began as early as the cold winter of January into spring, where these students have been taking time out of their day throughout the week to finally present their breathtaking skills in April.

The show this year provided the audience to be exposed with a number of dance styles: Lyrical, Hip-Hop, Bollywood, Jazz, Contemporary and others.

“Dance Ensemble was one of the highlights of my high school career and I am so delighted that I was a part of it,” said senior Amisha Mahajan. “It allowed me to form new friendships and, furthermore, learn new styles of dance.”

Overall, this year’s show was a remarkable experience not only for the choreographers and dancers, but for the audience as well.

Kayla Abraham, first-year dancer and freshman, said, “Dance ensemble taught me that having one common interest can bring such a diverse group of people together which leads to many new friendships! I can’t wait until next year!”
